JUST 10 months ago, The View were playing Glasgow's Barfly, Firewater and The Art School. Cocky, brash and belting out frantic indie-pop songs telling tales of life on an East Coast suburban scheme, the four Tayside tearaways were one of the hot tips for success in 2006.

They had faith in themselves . . . as did their burgeoning fanbase, whose chant "The View are on fire!" at their incendiary gigs rapidly caught while the boys toiled the length and breadth of the country supporting the likes of The Libertines and Primal Scream.
