a steel block the size of a three-storey building and the length of three double-decker buses took more than an hour to move the two miles between Glasgow's two shipyards - but proved a new era for Clyde shipbuilding was under way.

It took an hour to hoist the 240-tonne block on to the deck of a 300ft barge at the BAE Systems yard at Govan before it travelled to its sister yard at Scotstoun.
