IT was early 2001, and Steve was in turmoil. His 10-year marriage to Maria had fallen apart, and she had asked him to move out of their home.

The pain was unimaginable, especially as he had had to leave behind his three young daughters, his pride and joy.

Steve, now 43, from Glasgow, sought counselling from his GP and also from Relate.
