FAILURE to win even one of the Navy supercarriers would have closed Glasgow's two shipyards with the loss of more than 4000 jobs, BAE Systems bosses warned the Government in a secret letter.

The newly-released document reveals it would have cost an extra pound(s)500million to build just one of the two ships proposed, leading to claims company bosses "put a gun to the head of the government".
