I moved on to Celtic Boys' Club aged 14 in 1978. I was reluctant to do so, though, as they played on a Saturday. I used to prefer going to watch the Hoops in action. Dixie Deans was my hero.
I trained on Tuesday and Thursday nights and soon came under the watchful eye of coaches Jimmy Lumsden and Bobby Lennox. It was brilliant.
