GLASGOW is shaking off its traditional tag as Scotland's centre of poverty and deprivation, according to figures out today.

They show that, for the first time, the most deprived area of Scotland is not part of the city. The unwanted title goes to the sprawling Ferguslie Park housing estate in Paisley.
