EVEN the arrival of a haar off the sea couldn't stop these holidaymakers enjoying a day on the beach at Saltcoats.
Despite the distinct lack of sunshine almost every inch of sand has been claimed by families. Once sited, out would come the deck chairs (accompanied by plenty of curses as fingers were trapped), the tartan rug, to keep the shivers at bay, and the wickerwork picnic basket, complete with banana sandwiches for the weans and corned beef pieces for maw and paw.
