MEMBERS-ONLY clubs tend to call up images of fuddy-duddy types sipping a brandy beneath wall-mounted animal heads. But a new (pounds) 2.5million club scheduled to open in Glasgow next spring will be as far removed from that as it is possible to get. Not just anybody will be able to join the Hallion - membership will be by invitation only. But, say the owners, the facilities will be second to none.

Its immediate neighbour is a Hertz Rent-A-Car operation. Yards from the front door is a statue of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a local man.
