STANDARD Life was today under pressure to minimise redundancies following the announcement that nearly 900 Scots jobs would be axed.

Angry worker representatives are to press the insurance giant to introduce a programme of natural wastage and redeployment for staff going at the firm's HQ in Edinburgh and employee spokesman Stuart Inness today said: "We regret the loss of jobs."
