BUILDING work begins today on Scotland's first Emmaus Community. The facility, situated on the outskirts of Hamiltonhill in the northside of Glasgow, will provide 24 homeless people with a home, give another 100 people employment, and improve the lives of hundreds more.

Glasgow City Council helped the project start up with a (pounds) 683,000 grant, and today president of the UK Emmaus Federation Terry Waite will show Lord Provost Liz Cameron around the site. JONATHAN RENNIE reports.
