HEALTH unions said the Scottish Government was allowing the NHS to "haemorrhage" staff as figures show the number of workers in the health service had fallen by more than 4000.

Official figures show that at the end of September there were 161,369 NHS staff, including GPs and dentists, a drop of 4162 from the previous year.
