THE problem here is one of simple arithmetic. The book is 3million pages long, the film is only two hours and 37 minutes - something has to give. OK, I know that the book is actually only 645 pages long, but the arithmetic still doesn't work out. A two hour and 37 minute screenplay runs to 157 pages, so what do you do with the other 480-odd?
