DEFENCE chiefs could decide this week just how much they will spend on building Britain's two biggest aircraft carriers - amid growing speculation of a rift between them and Clyde shipyard bosses.

It is said BAE Systems, the owner of the Govan and Scotstoun yards, has been stripped of its potential role as prime contractor as a result of a series of rows with the Ministry of Defence.
