IT HAS been a long quest from Somalia to Barcelona gold but Mo Farah achieved his goal in impressive fashion last night to become the first-ever British 10,000m winner at a European Championships.

The 27-year-old, who collected European 5,000m silver in Gothenburg four years ago, stormed to a runaway win in Spain, crossing the line in 28.24.99 minutes, with fellow Brit Chris Thompson taking silver.
