Why Nhs 24 has Lost the Faith of Staff and Public Health Special: Four People Relive Their Experiences of the Emergency Line and Say Why It Must Be Overhauled

NHS 24 is facing a backlash from doctors and patients. The emergency health helpline and information service, based at three call centres across Scotland, was launched in May 2002 to ease pressure on GPs and casualty units.

But after complaints from patients about delays and sloppy advice, the system, which has a pounds-47million annual budget, has been branded a waste of money by family doctors.
