A BREAKDOWN in communication has been blamed for fire safety checks not being done at a care home where 14 residents died in a blaze.

A fatal accident inquiry into the blaze at Rosepark Care Home was told by Jeff Ord, 61, former firemaster with Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, there had been an "assumption" by Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and the Care Commission that the other was responsible for fire safety in such homes.
