HEALTH bosses in Lanarkshire were today debating controversial plans to close a casualty unit.

NHS Lanarkshire has spent three months consulting on a proposal to remove accident and emergency services from Monklands Hospital, near Airdrie or Hairmyres, East Kilbride. And as board members met to consider responses from staff, the public and politicians, a pressure group warned any closure would rebound on local MSPs.
