FIVE apprentices start their training this week at the Defence Munitions Centre in Beith in Ayrshire as the first of a new generation of multi-skilled engineers.

At the same time, the last nine apprentice engineers from the previous intake get their Ministry of Defence "papers" or Deeds of Indenture and are moving on to new careers around the MoD in Scotland.
