Laser Thugs Target Police Helicopter

THUGS who aimed a laser pen into the cockpit of a police helicopter are being hunted by detectives. The culprits shone the potentially blinding light into the police copter when it was flying during a routine late-night patrol over Glasgow.

Fine and Transfer Ban Fight Kicks Off

ONE of Scotland's top lawyers was today starting the fight to overturn a fine and transfer ban imposed on Rangers by the Scottish Football Association. Richard Keen QC was to spell out the club's case at an SFA Appeals Panel hearing at Hampden. Mr Keen, the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates, was to argue a season-long embargo on signing players and a pound(s)160,000 fine imposed by a Judicial Panel last month is unfair.

Independence 'Inevitable'

SCOTTISH independence is inevitable in the longer term, claims a leading Conservative peer. Lord Fraser of Carmyllie said that while he did not want independence to happen, it would be a recurring issue regardless of the outcome of the referendum in 2014.
