Shake-Up Bid for Morning School Patrols Move to Cover Breakfast Clubs
MORE than 7000 Glasgow kids go to school early for a free breakfast - but there are no lollipop men to help them cross the road. Breakfast clubs open at 8.15am with primary pupils offered cereal and toast ahead of classes starting at 9am. But crossing patrollers don't start work until 8.35am.
MORE than GBP300,000 has been pledged to help encourage children and adults over the age of 60 to swim. During the next three years GBP180,000 will be invested in Inverclyde allowing all residents over the age of 60 to swim for free.
City Support Scheme for Army Veterans Extended

A WOMAN killed her partner during a vicious row, and then fled leaving his body locked in their house. The High Court in Glasgow was told yesterday that Carol Stewart, 38, stabbed 50-year-old William Stewart in the chest as he attacked her in the kitchen of their Ayrshire home.

1955 ALTHOUGH the Duke of Wellington was well-used to winter campaigns in his battles with French Emperor Napoleon, a shower of snow in January 1955 left his statue under a fine white coating. City Venues to Host Olympic Training
FOUR sports venues in Glasgow have been accepted as training locations for the 2012 Olympics. The National Indoor Sports Arena and Velodrome, Toryglen Regional Indoor Centre, Scotstoun Leisure Centre and the Palace of Art Centre for Sports Excellence at Bellahouston have all been recommended in the pre-Games training camp guide.
