IT'S a conundrum that has fascinated mankind for generations: how can we travel back in time? It's been the subject of sci-fi books and films - not to mention countless idle day-dreams. How amazing it would be, we've imagined, to be able to shake hands with Elvis or John Lennon, to sit alongside Winston Churchill as he inspired Britain to defeat Hitler, or to actually attend a legendary sports event - Muhammad Ali beating Joe Frazier in Manila in 1975, say.

Your View Posties Must Deliver Better Job

I'D HAVE more sympathy with the postmen if they did the job they are supposed to do. We are lucky to get mail more than twice a week as it is. They put 'you were out' cards through the door without bothering to actually try to deliver the item first, on a monotonously regular basis. Posted online Sack them all SACK the lot of them. This is another case of union big-wigs trying to justify their existence. Someone should tell them it's not the 1970s . . . I'm still waiting for mail I posted then!

Comment of the Day Disabled Deserve a Free Space

IN REPLY to the letter from the person wanting disabled people to pay for parking like everyone else (August 1), I have never in my life felt so insulted and angered by something that I have read. Regarding the comment about "free road tax", what the writer seems to forget is that I and hundreds more give up mobility allowance to have the freedom of a car.
