Waves Power Daring Launch 11,000 Line Banks of Clyde to Watch Spectacular Debut for World's Most Advanced Warship From Scotstoun

THOUSANDS of cheering children and shipyard workers today turned out for the Royal launch of the new pride of the Clyde. Upto 11,000 flag-waving spectators packed BAE System's Scotstoun Yard to see the Countess of Wessex perform the traditional champagne ceremony to christen HMS Daring, the most technologically advanced warship in the world.

DINERS at a Pizza Hut on the banks of the Clyde had the best seat in the house for today's launch of HMS Daring. Tables in the restaurant at Braehead, which overlooks the Scotstoun shipyard, had been booked weeks in advance by diners desperate to watch today's big send-off.

A MOTORIST has died after he lost control of his car and collided with a pillar. The 23-year-old was killed following the crash in Humbie Road between Eaglesham and Newton Mearns around 5pm last night.

POLICE and motoring organisations today issued warnings to drivers after a woman's car was stolen as she scraped ice from its windows. The woman was defrosting her GBP14,000, eight-week-old black Mini yesterday morning when a hooded man jumped into it and drove it away.
