Consumers Fear Jobs May Be Lost Bank in Bid to Get Kids Saving

BANK of Scotland today launched a children's savings account with double the interest offered by other banks. Parent company HBOS says the new Children's Regular Saver Account will offer customers who save between pounds-10 and pounds-100 a month a fixed interest rate of 10-per cent for a year. Most rival banks offer interest rates of less than 5-per cent on similar accounts.

Consumers Fear Jobs May Be Lost

JOB security has hit its lowest level since November 2004, say Lloyds TSB Financial Markets. The latest Consumer Barometer reveals expectations about jobs growth are weak while consumers fear higher interest rates in the coming year.
