I think it is fantastic that (pounds) 31million is to be invested in grass roots football throughout Scotland (Evening Times, March 31). Hopefully this money will be used to provide facilities for kids to play football within their local communities. It can't be coincidence that the demise of football pitches such as Cowlairs, Possilpark, Colston, Milton, Cadder and Dawsholm has coincided with the lack of local players progressing to senior football.
