City Big Guns Boost Footsie

Strong domestic economic growth and a weaker pound enabled the FTSE 100 Index to make good progress. Figures showing that UK unemployment had fallen to its lowest level since 1984 lifted the spirits of investors, with the Footsie closing the session 31.8 points higher at 4537.3.

Jaguar Recalls 68,000 Cars in Gearbox Alert

Thousands of Jaguar cars have been recalled because of a possible gearbox problem. The recall of 68,000 vehicles worldwide, including 14,000 in the UK, has been triggered by four reported instances of cars going into reverse by mistake.
