Families Need Homes Which Are Affordable
There is a growing housing problem in Scotland and the lack of affordable homes is just as big a worry in Glasgow as in remoter areas. For a family on an average income, getting a foothold on the property ladder in the city is not easy, and it is virtually impossible without taking on a mortgage of horrifying size.
Friday's article on the police being given 24-hour powers to stop and search every person and vehicle in a bid to try to stop the increasing number of knife assaults and murders in the city centre, said human rights campaigners thought it would lead to innocent people being delayed. Well I, as an innocent person, would not mind being delayed if I thought it might save another innocent person from being the victim of knife crime.

David Telford, 55, claims Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd used "underhand dealings" during tendering for the multi-million pound redevelopment of Hampden Park.
A WOMAN driver had a lucky escape today after her car skidded off the road and ended up inches away from a busy railway line. The woman, who has not been named, was driving her Renault Laguna on the A8, near Port Glasgow, when she lost control and left the road.
